The Wedding of River Song… easily one of my favourite episodes of the series! Some of the theories I had about who was in the suit and how the doctor would not die, were confirmed for me today. I originally thought that the “Good Man” that River would kill, would be Rory, but I was wrong about that.  When the doctor was shot on the beach, I originally thought it might be a clone or a ganger, but when the Tessalector appeared towards the beginning of the episode, I guessed it would be that which appeared on the beach and not the actual doctor…. So even though I was late in guessing the theory that it might be someone else, I got that one right. The person in the Space suit was obvious really. When I realised that the child which regenerated in the first episode eventually became River, then it made complete sense that it would go full circle and that she would end up in the space suit again. They knew the child had escaped from it once and also that the Silence had been controlling River throughout her life and they knew that the suit had a way of controlling the person in it, as they said how strong she must have been to escape the suit, so at the end of the episode Closing Time when she was faced with it again, it made total sense she would be the one on the beach who shoots the Doctor.  I read a couple of remarks on facebook by people who watched it and were confused by several parts, such as “if it was the Tessalector which was shot, then why would it regenerate?” Well considering that the Tessalector can change shape and imitate anyone or anything (Motorbike for example) then knowing in advance that it was going to be on the beach and give the image that the Doctor had been killed, then simulating the Doctors death and Regeneration would have been pretty straight forward.  The question was also asked as to why time would restart again if it was the Tessalector that River touched/kissed and not the Doctor. My thoughts to that, would be that the Doctor himself being inside the Tessalector, would somehow give it a DNA presence in its make up, which means that when River touched it, it somehow connected with the Doctor Himself.  The question of whether or not River is now actually married to the Doctor is open to debate, but personally, I think that as it was actually him speaking from inside the Tessalector, it was him who actually took the vow to marry River, so yes they are married.  Doctor Who? That is the big question which is now going to become the focus of the next series. I am not really sure as to what the answer will be to this one, as this is something which has been debated for a long time….probably a lot longer than I have been alive, considering the year Doctor Who originally appeared on television.  I do have a few theories as to who he is, but before I write them down, I want to see what direction the next series takes and whether my ideas can be confirmed with any hints or clues it may give.  Oh well, till the Christmas episode, I guess that’s it for Doctor Who this year….its seems like I have spent such a long time waiting for the new episodes and now they are all finished, the television is going to be empty for a while…. I think I will just have to make do with the re-runs and reading books to get my Doctor Who fix!
